All the food safe woodwork is oiled with food use rape seed oil this can be reapplied to the wood any time you wish to but its best to do it once a year depending on usage.

I use Danish oil, osmo wax, a high polish wax or a hot wax, which is heat finished on the laith.

Yes it will depending on the conditions its kept in, after all wood is a natural material.

When you first receive the wooden item it will need to be hand washed in a warm water with washing up liquid. Drip dry on the draining board and then leave in a warm dry place, away from direct heat. Do not put in the dishwasher or microwave. The wood will need to be oiled with rape seed oil in a few months / years depending on how often you use it. Other food safe oils can be used but as far as I know no one seames to be alleric to rape seed oil. Under no circumstances use olive oil as it will go off.
